Worthy of Note - High Speed Internet hits 40%
16 Jan 2004

In a recent survey (Jan '04) emailer.com reported that 40% of US households now have have high speed Internet connections versus a Worldwide install rate of 37%. Based on Nielson Net//Ratings survey of total global insternet connections of 421 million, this would translate to 155.7 million high speed lines installed worldwide.

High speed Internet connections are the harbinger of a new set of services and applications based on Realtime Video, Video on Demand, and Time/Place/Proximity advertising and sales. These applications are already part of the standard Mobile Suite in Tokyo and Europe.

In the USA we await the FCC and Telcos getting their act together and moving to 3G. In Telephony the USA is 7th to 11th depending on the survey. If you want to move forward more quickly, email the FCC and/or the Telcos.
